Nature lovers are in for a treat. Historic Westfield boasts the best natural features of the region. Those looking to explore the local environment won’t find a better outdoor getaway than MacGregor Park.
About MacGregor Park
The history behind MacGregor Park dates back to 1999. Local citizens owned the land before the park existed. Construction for the park didn’t begin until Washington Township took over ownership of the park.
The town used much of its acquired land for the new public space. Today, MacGregor park consists of over 95 acres of thriving landscape, courtesy of Sheila Beals MacGregor and her family. Public access to the property is always welcome.
Planning Your Visit To MacGregor Park
You can make the most of your visit by planning ahead. The wildflower prairies are wide and span many miles of running and hiking trails. You can team up with a group or explore the park on your own. The area is particularly popular with geocaching enthusiasts, however. So, join in the fun: there’s always something new to find. All you need is a GPS-enabled device, like a smartphone. To play, sign up at geocaching.com, and download the Geocaching® app to see all the caches at the park.
Locals use MacGregor Park for both community activities and outdoor celebrations. Expect plenty of amenities to cover your basic needs and a few extras to keep you coming back. You’ll find multiple shelters, picnic tables, grills, and indoor restroom facilities here. Be sure to review the complete list of park rules before visiting the park.
