Enjoy a Mountain Bike Ride on These Trails in Central Indiana

Mountain biker riding on one of the most popular trails in Central Indiana.

The summer months are the perfect time to get out and enjoy the splendors of nature. Whether you prefer strolling, jogging, or cycling, you’ll love these popular trails in Central Indiana. For cycling enthusiasts, they’re great places to ride. This summer, consider dusting off that mountain bike for an exhilarating ride through beautiful surroundings!

Town Run Trail Park

With nine miles of packed dirt paths, it’s no wonder that Town Run is a haven for mountain bikers. Both beginning and intermediate trails are available, and riders of all abilities are welcome. Tower Run is home to the most popular trails in Indiana, so you’ll have plenty of fun traversing the terrain.

The Hoosier Mountain Bike Association services the park, so you can be sure that the trails are well-maintained. Also, orange arrows provide a guide as you ride along the paths.

Rangeline Nature Preserve Trails

Spanning 180 acres, the Rangeline Nature Preserve has trails for everyone. The preserve features an array of vegetation and water features to enhance the mountain biking experience.

You get three paths here, ranging from two to six miles. The novice path is smooth and flowing, while the expert trail is tighter, slower, and features obstacles such as a suspension bridge and a gap jump.

Lawrence Creek Trail

Located in a forest setting, Lawrence Creek Trail offers more elevation changes and technical obstacles. The path is somewhat narrow and you’ll have to navigate rocks, roots, and log crossings.

Cyclists should be aware that the north-facing slope near Snake Creek often stays wet after a downpour. If you’d like an easier ride, try the longer, downhill sections of the trail. Just remember to look out for dog-walkers, joggers, and hikers.

Schoen Creek Trail

The Schoen Creek Trail meanders through native prairie terrain and a wetland restoration area, making for a scenic ride. Spanning three miles, it’s a little twisty with shorter climbs and descents. Rocks, bench cuts, and shorter climbs may force riders to slow their speed. The trail is perfect for intermediate to advanced cyclists.

All in all, these trails in Central Indiana provide plenty of fun for all cyclists.
